Cloud Accounting Support Services Hits the Road: Filming Client Success Stories

At Cloud Accounting Support Services (CASS), we’re dedicated to providing personalised support that helps our clients manage their business finances with ease. Recently, we took to the road to visit some of our valued clients, and this time, the cameras were rolling! Our aim was to showcase the real impact our accounting, bookkeeping and cloud accounting support services have made and hear directly from those who work with us.

We captured the challenges our clients face and how CASS steps in to help. From navigating complex tax requirements, bringing that box of receipts and ledger book into the 21st century and to simplifying financial reporting. We’re proud to offer a service that makes a difference to the businesses we support, giving more than numbers.

Client Testimonials: Their Words, Their Stories

One of our stops was at Grace Cares, where Emma Smith shared her experience of working with us:

“Since we partnered with CASS, managing our accounts has become so much easier. They’ve taken the pressure off compliance and bookkeeping, allowing us to focus on what truly matters – making care sustainable. The support is always there when we need it, and we couldn’t be more pleased with their service.”  Emma Smith, Grace Cares

We also had the pleasure of catching up with Andy Hovarth, one of our accountant partners, who spoke about how working with CASS has benefited his clients and practice:

“The team at CASS are outstanding. Their dedicated support helps my clients stay ahead with their financial management, and I know I can always count on them for prompt, expert solutions. They’ve made a massive difference not just to my clients’ businesses, but to mine as well.” Andy Hovarth, Accountant Partner

The Heart of What We Do

Hearing these success stories reminds us of why we do what we do at CASS. Our clients trust us to handle their bookkeeping and accounting processes efficiently, ensuring everything runs smoothly so they can concentrate on growing their businesses. Filming these moments has been a fantastic way to show that cloud accounting support isn’t just about numbers – it’s about building partnerships and offering peace of mind.

Keep an eye out for the upcoming video highlights from our road trip, where we’ll share even more stories from the clients we’re proud to support.

Cloud Accounting Support Services: Making a Difference at the Pimp My Ride VIP Launch

Cloud Accounting Support Services: Making a Difference at the Pimp My Ride VIP Launch

At Cloud Accounting Support Services (CASS), we believe in not just supporting our clients financially but also in standing alongside them in their missions to make a difference. We had the incredible opportunity to do just that at the Pimp My Ride VIP launch, held at The Hub at St Mary’s. This unique event was hosted by our valued client, Grace Cares, and it was an evening to remember.

A Night of Art, Community, and Generosity

The event was a celebration of creativity and community, with local schools and colleges taking part in a heartwarming project to transform Zimmer Frames into stunning works of art. These talented students took on the challenge with enthusiasm, turning what might have been discarded into beautiful, meaningful pieces that showcased their skill and imagination.

Paul Barnes, our Managing Director at CASS, was honored to attend the event. “It was truly inspiring to see the creativity and passion that went into each design. The fact that these students were not just creating art, but also helping to save care equipment from landfill, made it all the more special,” Paul shared.

Paul wasn’t just a passive observer; he actively participated by casting his vote for his favorite design. His vote wasn’t just about choosing a winner; it was about supporting local talent and contributing to a cause that aligns with our values at CASS. The event was filled to capacity, with over 140 attendees who all shared a common goal: to be the change they want to see in the world.

Supporting Grace Cares’ Mission

Grace Cares is a remarkable organisation dedicated to saving care equipment from landfill, and the evening’s event was a testament to their mission. A highlight of the night was the raffle, which raised an impressive £600. But the generosity didn’t stop there.

Feeling compelled to further support Grace Cares, our team at CASS decided to match the £600 raised, doubling the total contribution to £1,200. This gesture was more than just a donation; it was a reflection of our commitment to the causes that matter to our clients and our community.

Hannah Montgomery, co-founder of Grace Cares, expressed her gratitude: “We are incredibly thankful to Team CASS for their generosity. Their matching donation not only boosts our funds but also shows the power of businesses coming together to support important causes. Together, we are making a real difference.”

A Proud Moment for CASS

For Paul and the entire team at CASS, the evening was about more than just business; it was about being part of something truly meaningful. “I’m proud to have been a part of this event and to have witnessed firsthand the incredible impact Grace Cares is making. At CASS, we believe in going beyond traditional client support, and this was a perfect example of how we can make a difference together,” Paul added.

As we reflect on the Pimp My Ride VIP launch, we are reminded of the power of community, creativity, and collaboration. It’s events like these that reinforce our belief in supporting our clients in every way possible, and we look forward to continuing this journey together.

Thank you to Grace Cares for allowing us to be a part of such a special evening, and to everyone who attended and contributed to making it a night to remember. Together, we can achieve so much more.

Axe Throwing Adventure: Cloud Accounting Support’s Unforgettable Team Building Event

Axe Throwing Adventure: Cloud Accounting Support’s Unforgettable Team Building Event

At Cloud Accounting Support Services, we believe that strong teams are built not only through hard work and collaboration but also through unique and engaging experiences. This year, we decided to step out of our usual routine and embrace the thrill of axe throwing for our end-of-year team building event. The day was filled with excitement, laughter, and a few unexpected revelations about our team members’ hidden talents!

Why Axe Throwing?

Axe throwing may not be the first activity that comes to mind when planning a corporate event, but it offers a perfect blend of fun, challenge, and camaraderie. The sport requires focus, precision, and a steady hand—skills that resonate well with our day-to-day work in cloud accounting. Moreover, it’s an excellent way to build trust, build rapport, and encourage a bit of friendly competition.

At Cloud Accounting Support Services, we’re always looking for ways to keep our team engaged and motivated. This event was a perfect example of how unconventional team-building activities can be both enjoyable and impactful. We returned to the office with renewed energy, a deeper sense of camaraderie, and some fun stories to share with our clients and partners.

As we close another successful year, we’re already looking forward to our next adventure. Who knows what it will be? But one thing is certain: whatever we do, we’ll do it together, with enthusiasm and team spirit.

Celebrating Giving Back: CASS’s Contributions to Two Rivers Primary School’s Garden

At CASS, we believe in the power of community, social value and the joy of giving back. Last month, we had the privilege of supporting Two Rivers Primary School through a series of heartwarming initiatives that truly made a difference.

A Generous Donation and a Heartfelt Raffle

We kicked off our efforts with a donation of £500, aimed at supporting the school’s needs. In addition to this, we organised a raffle during our 7th birthday bash, specifically to raise funds for the school garden. The response was fantastic! We raised over £100, which was immediately put to good use.

Investing in the School Garden

With the funds raised from our raffle, Team CASS made some wonderful purchases to enhance the school’s garden. Here’s a glimpse of what we bought:

  • Compost: Essential for enriching the soil and promoting healthy plant growth.
  • Various Plants: A selection of beautiful plants to add color and life to the garden.
  • Ornaments: Charming decorations to brighten up a garden wall.
  • Wind Chime: To add a soothing musical element to the garden.
  • Fountain: For the peace garden, creating a tranquil and serene environment.

Hands-On Volunteering

The spirit of giving didn’t stop at donations and purchases. During the half-term break, Jodie, Kirsty, and Caitlin dedicated their time and effort to volunteer in the school garden. They spent a productive Wednesday morning tidying up, painting, and planting, ensuring the garden was ready for the children’s return.

Their hard work and dedication transformed the garden into a beautiful and welcoming space for the students. The new plants, vibrant decorations, and the peaceful sound of the wind chime and fountain created an inviting environment for learning and play.

A Heartfelt Thank You

We are incredibly proud of our team’s commitment to making a positive impact. Jodie, Kirsty, and Caitlin’s efforts exemplify the values we hold dear at CASS – community, generosity, and its hands-on involvement.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the raffle and supported our fundraising efforts. Your contributions have made a significant difference, and the children at Two Rivers Primary School now have a beautiful garden to enjoy.

Looking Forward

As we celebrate our 7th birthday year, we look forward to many more opportunities to give back to our community. Stay tuned for more updates on our charitable initiatives and how you can get involved.

Why it is important to use technology to help do your bookkeeping?

Why it is important to use technology to help do your bookkeeping?
Incorporating technology into your bookkeeping processes offers numerous benefits that can significantly enhance efficiency, accuracy, and overall productivity. Here are several reasons why it’s important to use technology when doing your own bookkeeping:
Automation of Repetitive Tasks:
Bookkeeping involves a lot of repetitive tasks, such as data entry, reconciliations, and generating reports. Technology, particularly bookkeeping software and accounting systems, can automate many of these tasks, saving time and reducing the risk of errors.
Accuracy and Precision:
Manual bookkeeping processes are prone to human error, which can lead to inaccuracies in your financial records. Technology can perform calculations quickly and accurately, ensuring that your financial data is recorded and processed correctly.
Real-Time Data Access:
Modern bookkeeping software allows for real-time access to financial data from anywhere with an internet connection. This enables you as the business owner to make informed decisions based on up-to-date information rather than waiting for manual updates.
Streamlined Record Keeping:
Technology allows for the digitisation of financial records, eliminating the need for bulky paper files. Digital records are easier to organize, search, and retrieve, reducing clutter and saving physical storage space.
Improved Collaboration:
Cloud-based bookkeeping software facilitates collaboration among team members and stakeholders. Multiple users can access and update financial records simultaneously, promoting transparency and efficiency in communication.
Enhanced Reporting Capabilities:
Technology provides powerful reporting tools that can generate customisable financial reports with just a few clicks. These reports offer valuable insights into the company’s financial performance, enabling better decision-making and strategic planning.
Integration with Other Systems:
Many bookkeeping software solutions integrate seamlessly with other business systems, such as inventory management, payroll, and CRM software. This integration eliminates the need for manual data entry and ensures consistency across different functions of the business.
Scalability:
As your business grows, your bookkeeping needs become more complex. Technology allows for scalable solutions that can adapt to your changing requirements, whether it’s handling increased transaction volumes, adding new users, or expanding to new locations.
Compliance and Security:
Modern bookkeeping software often comes with built-in features for compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations. Additionally, these systems typically offer robust security measures to protect sensitive financial data from unauthorized access or cyber threats.
Cost Savings:

While there may be an initial investment in implementing bookkeeping technology, the long-term cost savings can be significant. Automation reduces the need for hours of manual data entry, lowers the risk of errors and associated costs, and frees up resources to focus on value-added activities.

Overall, leveraging technology to help you do your bookkeeping not only improves efficiency and accuracy but also enables your business to stay competitive in an increasingly digital world. By embracing innovative solutions, you can streamline your financial processes, drive growth, and achieve your strategic objectives more effectively. If you want to know more about using technology or want help with your bookkeeping please get in touch and see how we can help.

What Are The Basic Principles Of Bookkeeping?

Bookkeeping is the backbone of every successful business, providing a systematic way to record and track financial transactions. Whether you’re a small business owner, an entrepreneur, or simply managing personal finances, understanding the basic principles of bookkeeping is essential. In this blog post, we’ll delve into the fundamental principles that form the foundation of effective bookkeeping.

Double-Entry System:

  • At the heart of bookkeeping is the double-entry system, a fundamental concept that ensures every financial transaction has equal and opposite effects. Each transaction involves at least two accounts: one account receives and the other gives. This system helps maintain the accounting equation: Assets = Liabilities + Equity. By recording both sides of a transaction, it minimises errors and provides a comprehensive overview of financials.

The Accounting Equation:

  • The accounting equation is a key principle in bookkeeping. It highlights the relationship between a company’s assets, liabilities, and equity. Assets represent what the company owns, liabilities are its debts, and equity is the residual interest of the owners. The equation must remain balanced, serving as a check to ensure accurate record-keeping.

Separation of Business and Personal Finances:

  • For businesses, maintaining a clear separation between personal and business finances is crucial. Mixing the two can lead to confusion, making it challenging to track income, expenses, and profitability accurately. A dedicated business account and meticulous record-keeping help in maintaining clarity and facilitating tax compliance.

Consistency:

  • Consistency in bookkeeping practices is vital for accuracy and comparability. This involves using the same accounting methods and principles consistently throughout the financial reporting period. Uniformity ensures that financial statements are reliable and can be easily compared over different periods.

Accuracy:

  • Precision is paramount in bookkeeping. Even a minor error can have cascading effects on financial reports and decision-making. Reconciling accounts regularly, cross-checking entries, and conducting periodic audits contribute to maintaining accuracy in bookkeeping.

Timeliness:

  • Recording transactions promptly is essential to ensure that financial information is up-to-date and reliable. Delayed recording may result in oversight, making it challenging to identify and rectify errors. Timeliness is especially crucial during tax and financial assessments.

Completeness:

  • Every financial transaction, regardless of size, should be recorded. This principle ensures that the financial statements provide a comprehensive and accurate representation of the company’s financial position. Leaving out even small transactions can distort the overall picture and hinder decision-making.

Objectivity:

  • Maintaining objectivity in bookkeeping means presenting financial information impartially and without bias. This is particularly important for external users, such as investors and regulators, who rely on accurate and unbiased financial statements for decision-making.

Mastering the basic principles of bookkeeping is essential for anyone involved in managing business finances. By embracing the double-entry system, adhering to the accounting equation, and prioritising accuracy, consistency, and timeliness, individuals and businesses can establish a solid foundation for sound financial management. In doing so, they empower themselves to make informed decisions and navigate the complexities of financial transactions with confidence.

A Heartfelt Farewell to Annie – Celebrating a Pillar of Our Cloud Accounting Support Services Team

Dear valued clients, colleagues, and friends,

It is with mixed emotions that we announce the retirement of our wonderful Office Administrator, Annie, after six incredible years of dedicated service. Annie has been an integral part of our Cloud Accounting Support Services family since we launched in 2018, and her impact on the growth and success of our company cannot be overstated.

As we stand on the cusp of our sixth year in operation, it is only fitting to reflect on the journey we’ve undertaken together. Annie joined us during our early days when the company was still finding its footing. Little did we know then that she would become the heartbeat of our office, providing stability, warmth, and a tireless work ethic that set the standard for all who followed.

In her time with us, Annie witnessed and actively participated in the company’s evolution from a small startup to a thriving organisation boasting a team of nine talented individuals and Xero Platinum partner status.

Beyond her professional contributions, Annie’s kindness, generosity, and infectious positivity have created a workplace environment that feels like a second home to many of us. Her warm smile, cake baking and willingness to lend a helping hand have made her a beloved figure among colleagues and clients alike.

As we bid farewell to Annie, we want to express our deepest gratitude for her years of hard work, loyalty, and friendship. Cloud Accounting Support Services would not be where it is today without her.

To celebrate Annie’s retirement and express our heartfelt thanks, we will be hosting a farewell gathering for the team.

Maximising Your Financial Wellness: A Guide to Tech Prep for Your Year-End Self-Assessment and for the New Tax Year

As the financial year draws to a close, it’s the perfect time to reflect on your financial journey and set the stage for a prosperous new tax year starting in April. Leveraging technology to streamline your self-assessment process can make a significant difference in organising your finances and ensuring compliance with tax regulations. In this blog post, we’ll explore the importance of year-end self-assessment and guide you on getting the right technology in place for a seamless transition into the upcoming tax year.

Reflecting on the Past Year:

Reviewing Income and Expenses: Start your self-assessment by reviewing your income sources and expenditures for the past year. This is an opportune time to identify any discrepancies, ensure accuracy in financial records, and assess your overall financial health. If you used accounting tech such as Quickbooks Self-Employed or XeroGo you could see that at the push of a button.

Tracking Investments and Assets: Evaluate the performance of your investments and take stock of your assets. Understanding how your investments fared over the past year can inform your financial decisions for the future. If you have a financial advisor, it’s a great time to get a call in and take stock.

Leveraging Technology for Self-Assessment:

Digital Budgeting Tools: Consider using digital budgeting apps (such as Xero to categorise your expenses, track spending patterns, and set financial goals. These tools provide real-time insights into your financial habits, helping you make informed decisions about your budget.

Expense Management Apps: Such as Expensify or Dext, streamline expense tracking with mobile apps that allow you to capture receipts, categorise expenses, and generate reports effortlessly. This not only saves time but also ensures that you have a comprehensive record of deductible expenses for tax purposes.

Cloud-Based Accounting Software: Invest in cloud-based accounting software such as Xero, for a more organised and accessible financial system. These platforms offer features such as automatic bank feeds, invoicing, and financial reporting, simplifying the year-end accounting process.

Preparing for the New Tax Year:

Stay Informed About Tax Law Changes: Keep yourself informed about any changes in tax laws that may affect your financial situation. This knowledge will empower you to make strategic decisions and take advantage of any new tax benefits. We always advise using a qualified accountant who can keep you informed.

As you embark on your year-end self-assessment journey, embracing technology can be a game-changer in achieving financial wellness. From budgeting apps to cloud-based accounting solutions, the right tools can simplify the process and set you up for success in the new tax year. Take the time to review your financial landscape, implement the appropriate technologies, and stride confidently into the upcoming year with a well-organised and financially sound foundation.
